Custom domains for e-commerce platforms
Checkout runs on the merchant's own domain. CustomDomain™ connects it at the merchant's DNS provider, root and www included.
For onboarding product managers, platform engineers and founders at commerce platforms such as Shopify, Square Online and BigCommerce.
Where commerce platforms connect domains
Each job with its records, its fit and the docs page behind it.
Hosted storefront builders
Merchants put the storefront and checkout on their own domain. Extra A and AAAA records are flagged before writing, and the root is pointed per provider.

Hosted checkout moved onto checkout.acme.com. The platform supplies the CNAME and TXT records, each is checked against its value, and the edge plays no part.
Headless storefronts
Custom storefronts on a headless stack that keep the brand's root. Point domains at your own infrastructure on any plan, with the Cloudflare proxy off for these records.
Creator merch stores
Merch stores on a creator's name. A sign-in with the provider where it offers one, and the exact steps with each record checked everywhere else.
Apps inside store platforms
Store apps that need a merchant subdomain for help centers, tracking or tagging. The widget sits inside the app's settings, and merchants whose DNS has no write API get exact steps.
Rental booking stores
Rental stores on the business domain. Your app sees each status change in the widget and by webhook.
Game server webstores
Stores selling items for a game server on store.acme.com. The subdomain CNAME is written DNS only, and proxied records are flagged.
Loyalty and referral pages
Rewards and referral pages on a brand subdomain. A CNAME and a TXT ride one connection, both checked, and the hourly drift check reports a removed CNAME.
Branded order tracking pages
Tracking pages on track.acme.com instead of a carrier page. Written DNS only through the Cloudflare sign-in, with proxied records flagged by the live check.

Self-serve returns on returns.acme.com. A CAA advisory comes before the write, and provider-specific steps replace per-registrar help articles.

Common questions
Will the merchant's email keep working?
Yes. CustomDomain™ writes only the store's records at the merchant's DNS provider, and records already in the way are flagged before anything is written.
Why do shoppers still see the old store?
An old A or AAAA record is still answering at the root. The check lists both as conflicts, and the fix is to delete them.
Who issues the certificate for checkout?
On Growth and up, the CustomDomain™ edge issues it on the first HTTPS request and renews it. On Starter and Startup, domains point at your own servers and you serve TLS.
